QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education
• Possess a valid, current Michigan secondary teaching certificate with endorsement in Science: DA, DI and EX certification

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach district approved curriculum.
• Develop lessons and instructional material to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
• Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students.
• Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Conducts parent teacher conferences for education related purposes outside the instructional day.
• Supervise classroom and students.
• Other duties may be assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form

REASONING ABILITY:

• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Interact with public and other staff as required.
• Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally the employee will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee must be able to attend meetings in the evening and at other locations.
